SUMMARY:4th Annual Clays For Cardio Shoot-Out
DESCRIPTION:About Our Cause\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Clays For Cardio Shoot-Out is our annual clay shooting tournament that benefits The Cardiovascular Foundation of Southeast Texas and the students\, families\, and research we support. The Cardiovascular Foundation of Southeast Texas (CFST) was inspired by what we’ve learned from more than 100 clinical trials as principal investigators over the past 21 years at the Southeast Texas Clinical Research Center (SETCRC). Those trials evaluated both medical treatments and devices designed to improve cardiovascular health. \n\n\n\nThe SETCRC supports the design and performance of clinical trials to improve the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disorders. The CFST is currently funding the design and development of two medical research and software projects. \n\n\n\nThe Foundation grants educational scholarships for healthcare students in Southeast Texas. CFST also provides funds for medical support for indigent patients in our community. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGeneveive Alina Phillip\n\n\n\nGeneveive is a 2-year-old little “woman warrior” who was born with a condition known as Ventricular Septal Defect (multiple large holes in her heart). Among several other complications\, Genevieve developed Critical Limb Ischemia\, which led to an above the knee amputation in October of 2017. So far in her little life\, Genevieve has undergone three major surgeries. She is scheduled for another open heart surgery in October of 2019\, so even more recovery and ongoing treatments lie in store for this brave girl. Her family’s faith and strength keep them going\, and the CFST is thankful to assist in their journey. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nKobee Kohen\n\n\n\nKobee is a 13-year-old 8th grader who is currently enrolled at St. Anne Catholic School. He was diagnosed with Pediatric Rhabdomysarcoma\, a rare soft tissue cancer\, in 2015. After one year of chemo and radiation\, all scans showed he was in remission until February of 2019. The cancer unfortunately returned and metastasized through his body. Kobee is still undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatments to alleviate tumor sizes and pressure build up behind his orbital region. As of July 2019\, no new growth has been detected\, and his family is grateful\, but still needs assistance in his treatment and recovery. \n\n\n\n\n\nShoot-Out Schedule\n\n\n\n10:00 A.M. – Registration with light breakfast 10:45 A.M. – Mandatory safety briefing 11:00 A.M. – FLIGHT BEGINS 12:30 P.M. – Kids’ activities begin & Live music begins 1:00 P.M. – Lunch provided by Courville’s \n\n\n\n\n\nA short presentation ceremony about the\nFoundation will take place after the flight\nhas ended. The winners of the Shoot-Out\nwill also be given their awards at this time. \n\n \n\n\n\nNon-Shooter Admission at The Door\n\n\n\nNot a shooter? Join us anyway! Bring the whole family for a memorable\, fun-filled day! \n\n\n\nAdults: $20 | Kids (5-16) $10 \n\n\n\n Kids 4 and under get in free! SUMMARY:3rd Annual Clays For Cardio Shoot-Out
DESCRIPTION:The Clays For Cardio Shoot-Out is our annual clay shooting tournament that benefits The Cardiovascular Foundation of Southeast Texas and the students\, families\, and research we support. The Cardiovascular Foundation of Southeast Texas (CFST) was inspired by what we’ve learned from more than 100 clinical trials as principal investigators over the past 20 years at the Southeast Texas Clinical Research Center (SETCRC). HLHS is a birth defect that affects blood flow through the heart. While there is still no cure\, treatment for HLHS consists of three stages of open heart surgeries. Griffin had his first surgery at four days old\, his second at three months old\, and a third in September of 2017. After a couple of good months\, Griffin went into severe heart failure in February of 2018. \nA healthy heart transplant became available for Griffin on May 19th\, 2018\, and he received this gift the next day at Texas Children’s Hospital. He has been doing amazingly ever since. There is still a lot of recovery\, many tests\, and follow-ups Griffin and his family must endure\, but they are beyond grateful for so many chances at life\, and count their blessings daily. \n\n\n\n \nRiley Carter\nRiley is a 17-year-old Junior from Kirbyville who suffered a stroke on June 30\, 2018 while fishing with his dad. He was airlifted to the Cardiovascular ICU at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston on July 1st when he suffered severe heart failure. As of January 2019\, he is still at Texas Children’s Legacy Tower for several more months. \nBefore Riley’s stroke\, he was active at Kirbyville High School in UIL\, the fishing team\, band\, and National Honor Society. He represented the Jasper-Newton Electric Cooperative in the Government-in-Action Youth Tour to Washington\, D.C. in mid June of 2018 where he had the honor of placing the wreath upon the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. \n\n\n\n\n\n2019 Clays For Cardio Shoot-Out Info\nCFST proudly announces our 3rd Annual fundraiser event.
